RTW Travel Blog Links

This is a simple one folks, these are other sites I like and find helpful for backpackers either planning round the world travel or just interested in great stories dispatched from around the world.

Travel Community Highlights

There are a lot of blogs out there – and so many have fantastic resources. Below are a few of the highlights of blogs that I am currently reading and communities in which I participate. The full master list of around the world and travel blogs is at the bottom – any of these blogs are great starting places for planning any size trip or finding inspiration:

Current 2010 Travel Blogs

These bloggers are currently, right now, traveling around the world and actively blogging.

  • Uncornered Market: Audrey and Scott are producing some of the best long-term travel content in the industry. They’ve been on the road nearly three years with truly amazing photos and stories the whole way.
  • The PlanetD: Dave and Deb are traveling all over the world and throughout their home country of Canada.
  • Nomadic Chick: This nomadic gypsy has just started out – follow her RTW from the start.
  • Round We Go: Ryan and Laura set off on a year of running, eating and drinking their way around the world.

The standard fare – these are extensive resources with large communities of travelers and bloggers ready to dispense advice:

  • BootsnAll: The forums on this site are an amazing source of information to any country and any style of travel.
  • Lonely Planet: The site itself has a lot of information and backpackers are available on the Thorntree forum for questions.
  • Matador: Huge resource and a wealth of information about all aspects of travel from writing to nightlife…and everything in between.

Other Blogs I Actively Read

  • Sharing Travel Experiences: A great resource for inspirational travel stories and travel concierge services if you need a bit of professional help planning your trip.
  • Fox Nomad: Anil hosts a fun collection of travel stories, tips, and advice for every stage of travel from prepping to coming home and re-acclimating. He is my travel techie guru!
  • Lost Girls: These three original ladies inspired my own RTW trip – now they offer up a group-run site with travel stories, tips, and advice.
  • Wandering Earl: He has a great alternative slant on the travel blog and insight rather than the places to go posts!
  • Brooke Vs The World: Brooke lives in Australia and has some great anecdotes and one of the best solo travel e-newsletters on the Web!
  • Beers and Beans: Stunning photography sets these posts apart.

Links Policy

I’m a fan of reciprocal linking; if you have a current blog with engaging content, contact me and let’s chat. It should go without saying that the blog should be related to travel…and preferably backpacking and around the world travel!
